Node Level Crossover Applied to Neural Network Evolution

چکیده
In this work we present an application of the Confidence Interval Based Crossover using L2 Norm (CIXL2) and BLX-α crossovers to the evolution of neural networks. CIXL2 is a new crossover operator, based on obtaining the statistical features of the best individuals of the population. These features are used as virtual parents for the crossover operator. Due to the permutation problem of neural network coding that negatively affects the crossover operator, we have adopted a novel approach. Crossover is made at node level. Instead of performing crossover over two whole networks, we perform crossover over two nodes. We present here the adaptation of two crossover methods: CIXL2 and BLX-α. All the nodes of the best networks are clustered, by means of a k-means algorithm, and a redefinition of the operators is carried out using the obtained clusters. Each node is mated within the cluster where it belongs.

An alternative approach for neural network evolution with a genetic algorithm: Crossover by combinatorial optimization
In this work we present a new approach to crossover operator in the genetic evolution of neural networks. The most widely used evolutionary computation paradigm for neural network evolution is evolutionary programming. This paradigm is usually preferred due to the problems caused by the application of crossover to neural network evolution. However, crossover is the most innovative operator with...
متن کاملLink Prediction using Network Embedding based on Global Similarity
Background: The link prediction issue is one of the most widely used problems in complex network analysis. Link prediction requires knowing the background of previous link connections and combining them with available information. The link prediction local approaches with node structure objectives are fast in case of speed but are not accurate enough. On the other hand, the global link predicti...

In this study, an image backlight compensation method using adaptive luminance modification is proposed for efficiently obtaining clear images. The proposed method combines the fuzzy C-means clustering method, a recurrent functional neural fuzzy network (RFNFN), and a modified differential evolution. The proposed RFNFN is based on the two backlight factors that can accurately detect the compensat...
متن کاملDual Network Representation Applied to the Evolution of Neural Controllers
This paper presents a new approach to the evolution of neural networks. A linear chromosome combined with a grid-based representation of the network and a new crossover operator allow the evolution of the architecture and the weights simultaneously. There is no need for a separate weight optimization procedure and networks with more than one type of activation function can be evolved. This pape...
متن کاملA Differential Evolution and Spatial Distribution based Local Search for Training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Network
Abstract Many parameter-tuning algorithms have been proposed for training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Networks (FWNNs). Absence of appropriate structure, convergence to local optima and low speed in learning algorithms are deficiencies of FWNNs in previous studies. In this paper, a Memetic Algorithm (MA) is introduced to train FWNN for addressing aforementioned learning lacks. Differential Evolution...
